Resistance

this destroys more dreams than anything

The more resistance you experience, the more important your unmanifested art/project/enterprise is to you.

Steven Pressfield

Resistance.

It shows up in your faith, your fitness, your family, and your finances.

It’s the invisible force that keeps you from stepping into the next level.

It is the enemy to greatness, and shows up as procrastination, distraction and limiting beliefs destroying more dreams than competition.

You must understand this if you hope to master anything in life.

Every story of greatness begins by breaking through this invisible barrier.

It’s supposed to suck.

If resistance is showing up in your life it’s because you are pushing against current limits.

The only way to reach the next level is through force, effort and consistency.

Just like in the gym.

You are naturally hardwired to seek comfort, its human, and reprogramming that biological drive is the battle for greatness.

The good news is every time you identify the resistance and overcome that challenge you level up your character and create momentum towards the next challenge.

It may not seem like a big deal but when facing resistance the little things matter the most.

The Zeigarnik Effect is the tendency to remember unfinished tasks better than completed ones. Your brain sees unfinished work as “open loops” that create mental tension, keeping them active in your memory.

How It Affects You:

  • Procrastination – Unfinished tasks feel harder to complete.

  • Distraction – Your brain keeps reminding you of what’s undone.

  • Stress & Overwhelm – Too many open loops drain energy and focus.

How to Use It:

  • Write tasks down to offload mental clutter. [Check out the Open Loop exercise in the 40daymastery.com Training]

  • Start small—once a task is in motion, your brain pushes you to finish.

  • Close loops systematically to free up focus and build momentum.

Your brain hates unfinished business, so use it to stay productive.

Destroy resistance by closing loops.

That simple.

Positive Resistance is Called Tension

As you level up as a man it’s important to understand the difference between negative resistance and positive tension.

Put yourself in the right rooms and around the right people.

  • 1. Mentors will Create Tension calling your forward.

  • 2. Brothers beside you in the trenches will sharpen you through accountability.

  • 3. Crabs in the bucket will RESIST YOU and try to pull you down.

If you have too many crabs in your life you’ll never reach freedom.

Audit your relationships and understand if you are feeling tension or resistance.

Action this Week.

List every unfinished task, conversation, or commitment that’s weighing on you… it might feel overwhelming at the start, but this is how you face resistance head on.

If you keep avoiding it, it will keep subconsciously controlling you.

Put it on paper, once you see it you’ll have an easier job of completing it.

The more you complete, the more confidence and competence you earn.

You level up.

Where are your open loops?

Faith, Fitness, Family, Finances.

Don’t let resistance destroy your greatness.

Talk soon.

PS… would love to hear from you, where are you experiencing the most resistance right now? Is there something you are avoiding “an open loop” in that domain? Happy to be that healthy tension for you to remind you that who you’re meant to be is far more powerful than any temporary fear or setback.

You got this.
